How do you qualify for the us adaptive open?
Similar to the regular US Open, golfers either earn an exemption or qualify for the event.
Exemptions are given to those who either win the US Open Overall Title or win their Impairment Category. Exemptions are also awarded to the Overall Champions at both the Canadian Open and the G4D (European) Open. The Top 10 ranked players in the world also receive an automatic exemption.
The remaining spots in the field are filled through the qualifying process. Six qualifiers were hosted across the nation. The overall male and female winners for each site were awarded an exemption. The remaining scores were ranked across all six sites using a modified Score Differential.
Each Impairment Category was given a total number of available “spots.” This was based on the percentage of received applications for that specific category. The Men’s Lower Limb division had 9 spots. The remaining 8 spots in the field were filled by Committee Selection.
Carter qualified at the Dallas, TX Qualifier in April 2024. It was the first US Adaptive Open Qualifier in history. Prior to 2024, the entire US Adaptive Open field was hand selected by a committee.
